The word 'Slut' and why is it called a 'Slutwalk'.
The Slutwalk is in retaliation of a Toronto police officer claiming “women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimized.”
Women and men will not be walking as ‘sluts’. They will be walking as full, complete human beings. You do not have to identify as a ‘slut’ in order to walk. You only need to be against rape culture and everything that goes...
Anonymous asked: I happen to agree also, being another neutral opinion. I think it is great what you are striving for, but this type of action I feel is the wrong way of doing it. Reclaiming a word will not stop any type of shame, these actions will still occur. Awareness only does so much and I had several other questions too but how can you say this is a professional forum, and then dismiss questions you feel...
givethatshitroomtobreathe asked: I appreciate your response, and I think the original question asker would be very interested in a post that addresses hir question, which I can only assume is why it was asked in the first place.
givethatshitroomtobreathe asked: Hello,
I don't really have an opinion one way or another regarding the actual SlutWalk, but I would like to add that you not responding to a very valid question from an anonymous person is very poor form. This makes you seem like you're avoiding a serious issue that your event is bound to bring up. If you had addressed this seriously and presented your argument...

Anonymous asked: Because I don't have a Tumblr account you are dismissing my question? I was completely serious.
Gaining press attention already…
Anonymous asked: You do realize that referring to everyone walking as "sluts" only makes it okay for others to call you sluts, right? I don't understand how marching through Boston in little clothing accomplishes anything. Why would you want to "take back" the word? What does it even mean to you?
tourneeduchatnoir asked: Hey! I live in Providence! I'd love to help out!
fenice-argento asked: I live in Providence! I can't guarantee my time right now but if you let me know what kind of help you need I can (hopefully) help out (I just don't want to make a promise I can't keep, but I am hoping that I can help!)
I'm definitely going to the Boston SlutWalk!

Who lives in Providence, RI?
Who wants to help us make buttons, posters, flyers, etc?!
Anonymous asked: I'd really love to see some trans* speakers to keep the slutwalk really inclusive and representative of all. Trans* people have been frequent victims of violence and sexual violence based on their gender identities. Maybe Johnny Blazes or some one from MTPC. And maybe to represent men against sexism and sexual violence, some one from NOMAS Boston?
tourneeduchatnoir asked: This may be really hard but would it be possible to have either eve ensure or maybe jessica valenti come? i know jessica has a child but its just a suggestion. It would be wonderful to see one of them there. or even inga muscio.
What speakers would you like to see at Boston...

We are proud to announce the Boston Slutwalk will...
Our list of speakers is slowly growing and we are beyond honoured to announce feminist Jaclyn Friedman will be speaking at the May 7th walk!
If the name seems familiar but you cannot put your finger on exactly who she is, you may have seen her on Democracy Now! in her debate with Naomi Wolf regarding Julian Assange.
